Atletico Madrid fan stabbed three times outside Wanda Metropolitano before Sevilla loss in Copa del Rey

Reports suggest the male was wearing a shirt saying 'Frente Atletico', the name of the Madrid side's notorious ultras.

AN ATLETICO fan was reportedly stabbed before their Copa del Rey clash with Sevilla.

A 22-year-old man was rushed to hospital in a serious condition after being stabbed near Atletico Madrid's Wanda Metropolitano stadium, emergency services said.

El Mundo report that the male was wearing a shirt saying "Frente Atletico", the name of the Madrid side's notorious ultras.

He was stabbed during a fight outside the Las Musas metro station.

Madrid's emergency services tweeted: "Civil Protection has stabilised and taken a 22-year-old male in a serious condition to the La Paz hospital after he sustained three stabbed wounds, in the thigh, arm and back.

"The events occurred on Avenida de Niza. The male was attended to immediately by Civil Protection officers present in the vicinity of the Wanda Metropolitano."

AS reports that the stab wound to the victim's neck is most concerning at this stage.

The incident overshadowed the match, as Jesus Navas helped ruin Diego Costa's night in the Copa del Rey quarter-final.

Southport player targeted by pitch invader during win over Stockport County

A Southport player was targeted by a fan who ran onto the field during their recent 3-1 victory over Stockport County.

A supporter was able to get onto the field at Haig Avenue and get within reach of the Southport substitutes, warming up on the touchline.

Reports from the stadium claimed the spectator had approached a Southport player and aimed a kick in his direction, before police and officials from both dugouts quickly acted to bring the situation under control.

Southport had acknowledged a "serious issue" had taken place during the game and have since confirmed that an investigation is underway to ascertain what happened.

CCTV footage has been made available to police who attended the incident, while Merseyside Police have confirmed the player involved was not injured, and that a group of supporters were ejected from the ground following the event taking place.

Southport have issued an official statement on their club website, outlining what happened.

"In the second half of today's game against Stockport County, a spectator encroached onto the field of play and attacked a Southport player who was warming up on the touchline at the time of the incident.

"Following the game, several club representatives spoke to the police and an investigation into the incident is now ongoing. Club officials have reviewed available CCTV and match footage, and multiple clear images of the incident are available to the police.

"The club takes the safety of our staff, our players, our volunteers and our supporters seriously. The club believes this was an isolated incident, however in light of today's events, a full review of safety procedures will be conducted," the statement concluded.

Seven fans arrested around Leeds United v Millwall game after 'missiles' thrown - but police praise majority

Police praised the good behaviour of the vast majority of Leeds United and Millwall fans on Saturday after making just seven arrests before and after the match. West Yorkshire Police revealed that six Leeds United fans and one Millwall fan were arrested following some minor disturbances before and after the Championship clash, which ended with Leeds narrowly losing 4-3 in a seven-goal gut-wrencher. Some fans threw 'missiles across the segregation' during the match and there was 'some disorder' in the city centre before the game. West Yorkshire Police said: "Busy day with 33k+ at the game, & 1,300 away. 7 arrests (6 H, 1 A) some disorder in the city pre match and missiles across the segregation during the game.
