Russia : Spartak Moscow Seeks €340K from Swastika-Waving Football Fan - 24/11/2013
Source : http://en.ria.ru
Spartak Moscow is seeking to recover some 15 million rubles (€340,000) in compensation from a football fan whose swastika-waving antics at a recent game incurred a big fine for the Russian football club, spokesman Alexei Matveyev told R-Sport on Friday. The Russian football association fined Spartak $18,500 and ordered the team to play two games behind closed doors following their Russian Cup match against second-tier Shinnik Yaroslavl last month. The October 30 game suffered crowd violence and was held up for 30 minutes while police fired water cannons at brawling fans. "The team really are going to sue him for 15 million rubles," Matveyev said. Earlier this month, Spartak owner Leonid Fedun said the team budget came up $1.4 million short due to losses from ticket sales for the top matches against city rivals Lokomotiv and league leaders Zenit St. Petersburg. He also claimed the flag-waver was a "professional provocateur" out to sabotage Spartak's season. The unnamed football fan who is reportedly a resident of the Vladimir Region and has been sentenced to seven days in prison Wednesday.

Scotland : Dunfermline fan fined £300 for throwing coin at Forfar supporter - 01/11/2013
Source : http://www.thecourier.co.uk
A Forfar football fan sustained a head injury after a visiting Dunfermline supporter launched a coin at him, a court has heard.
Donald Gregory, 51, of Henderson Street, Dunfermline, admitted a charge of culpably and recklessly throwing a coin into the crowd, which struck a man to his injury.
Depute fiscal Jill Drummond told Forfar Sheriff Court the incident occurred at a League 1 match between the home side and the Pars on October 5.
One of the witnesses was a safety officer at the ground and the incident happened about 4.30pm. The accused was in a group walking around the inside of the ground.
“They met a group of Forfar fans and an unknown person from the crowd shouted over something about the game,” Ms Drummond said.
The accused turned to the group and made an angry statement, then threw a coin. It hit the witness in the forehead and drew blood,” Ms Drummond added.
It caused an inch-long cut above his right eye, which was expected to heal with a small mark, and he did not seek medical attention. The incident was seen by the safety officer.
Ms Drummond said: “The Crown moves to have a football banning order in respect of this matter.”
Defence agent Brian Bell said there is no segregation at Station Park and fans are able to walk freely around the ground.
“Something was said, it appears, against the Dunfermline group,” he said.
Mr Bell said Gregory had no previous convictions and was a first offender.
He said Gregory was “embarrassed” to have acted in this way as a 51-year-old, had only been to three football games in the year and asked for a disposal via financial penalty.
Visiting sheriff Marion MacDonald said she would not grant a football banning order in light of Gregory’s record.
However, she added: “Injuring persons is clearly unacceptable.”
Gregory was fined £300.

Greek football fined for fans' nazi symbol - 14/11/2013

Fans showed a three-armed swastika during a home match against Slovakia in October
Greece was fined 30,000 Swiss francs by football's world governing body FIFA on Monday for crowd trouble during the home match against Slovakia on October 11.
"The Greek group Brigade Hellas displayed a banner featuring a Triskele, which resembles a three-armed swastika and is used by the far-right," said the Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) group.
Greece's opponent in the World Cup qualification playoffs this week, Romania was fined 10,000 Swiss francs for incidents in the match at home to Estonia on October 15.
According to FARE, these incidents included the display of a banner in support of the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn, a Greek political party, by Romanian supporters.

Croatia's Josip Simunic defends 'pro-Nazi' World Cup celebration chant
Croatia's World Cup qualification celebrations have been marred by apparent "pro-Nazi" chants by fans and defender Josip Simunic.
Croatia qualified for the World Cup with a 2-0 win over Iceland on Tuesday. Video footage shows Simunic taking a microphone to the field after the match and shouting to the fans: "For the homeland!" The fans respond: "Ready!" That was the war call used by Ustashas, the Croatian pro-Nazi puppet regime that ruled the state during the second world war when tens of thousands of people perished in concentration camps.
The Australian-born Simunic defended his action, saying: "Some people have to learn some history. I'm not afraid. I did nothing wrong. I'm supporting my Croatia, my homeland. If someone has something against it, that's their problem."
The same chant coupled with the Nazi salute has often been used by Croatian fans in the past. Fifa and Uefa have had to fine the Croatian Football Association because of their behaviour. There was no immediate reaction from Fifa to the latest incident.

Rangers issue statement on Falkirk flare incident
A flare burned a hole on The Falkirk Stadium’s plastic pitch at today’s Scottish Cup tie between Falkirk and Rangers.
The device was thrown onto the park at the north end of the ground as nearby away fans celebrated full-time and a 2-0 defeat for the Bairns.
It melted areas of the plastic woven surface inside the penalty area leaving a scar approximately two feet in length with other smaller areas of damage surrounding before being extinguished by safety stewards.
Rangers issued a statement shortly after the end of the game on the club’s website (here) which read: “The club is extremely disappointed that a flare was set off from the North Stand at today’s game against Falkirk.
“These devices are inherently dangerous and represent a real risk to fans. players and match officials.
“Today’s incident has resulted in the playing surface being damaged and the Club are now investigating this matter and will be supporting the Police with their inquiries.”
Gary Holt, the Bairns manager said he’d “bite his tongue” before addressing the issue but added: “I’m not happy, the club isn’t happy about it.”
A smoke bomb was also set off during the game towards the back of the north stand, traditionally the visiting supporters’ stand and used to house some of the Rangers fans at today’s William Hill Scottish Cup tie.
Rangers won the match 2-0 with goals from Nicky Law and David Templeton. Earlier in the match, which was preceded by an impeccably observed minute’s silence for those affected by the Clutha Vaults helicopter crash in Glasgow, Falkirk defender David McCracken was red-carded and conceded a penalty saved by Bairns goalkeeper Michael McGovern.
Falkirk spent around £500,000 installing the new state-of-the-art woven pitch this summer and officials have contacted installation company Greenfields ahead of the necessary repairs.

Bosnia : Željezničar - Borac Banja Luka - 30/11/2013
Bosnian fans throw FIREWORKS at each other during explosive clash in Sarajevo
It wasn't the best day to be a steward in Bosnia on Saturday. When FK Zeljeznicar clashed with FK Borac, supporters of both clubs engaged in the thoughtless act of throwing flares and fireworks at one another when tensions boiled over. As this footage shows, fireworks were ignited in the stands before the reckless supporters hurled them into the rival fans' section. Bystanders caught up in the carnage were filmed trying to make their way out of the Sarajevo stadium through the rain of flares and a plumes of smoke. In the actual football match, Sarajevo-based league leaders Zeljeznicar clinched a tense game 1-0 with the only goal coming from Muamer Svraka before the trouble spilled over. Towards the end of the footage, one supporter is shown with his hands in the air, urging the thugs to stop throwing the flares so he can leave the ground unharmed. Seats that some of the supporters ripped up appeared to have then been thrown at him.
